As you near the end of your life there are a lot of tough conversations and decisions that you have to make. One of the hardest and most important things that you should do is talk to your loved ones about your final wishes. Whether you are talking to your spouse, your children, your grandchildren, or your friends, having a serious sit-down talk with them will help you ensure that all of your needs and wants come to fruition after you pass.

Talk to Them About Your Funeral Service

Your funeral service is the last big event where people get to celebrate your life. Depending on your religious beliefs or spiritual preferences, you may prefer to have your funeral at some sort of church. If you aren't sure where to have it, then a funeral home is always a great option because they will have everything there for your family. What kinds of things do you want at your funeral service? Do you want a prayer? Do you want a commemoration speech? Do you want your children to talk? Do you want a musical number? These are all things that you will want to work out with your loved ones.

Talk to Them About Your Burial

Another thing that you will have to talk to your loved ones about is your burial or your cremation. Do you want to be buried in the same cemetery as other family members? Do you already have a plot next do some of your loved ones? What kind of casket do you want? Do you want one that's more affordable or do you want one that's made out of a special kind of wood?

If you want to get cremated, then you may want to talk to your loved ones about having your ashes sprinkled somewhere that's important to you. For instance, if you love the mountains, the ocean, or somewhere else outdoors then you may want to have your family spread your ashes there.

Talk to Them About Financing

A funeral and burial can cost thousands of dollars. If you can, try to set aside money for these services so that your family doesn't have to worry about paying for it. If you only have part of the money set aside, then work out a plan with your family so that they can be prepared.

Coming to terms with the fact that you are about to die is emotionally difficult, but it can also be a time of peace; especially if you have reached old age. To ensure that your wishes are met, keep these things in mind.
